How Do I Save Energy on a Pool?
Would you like to know how you can save energy when using a swimming pool? Then read on.
First of all, it is advisable to cover the pool when you are not using it. About 80% of the heat loss takes place through the water surface when you do not cover the pool. This can be done, for example, with the help of a tarpaulin, an automatic roller shutter or a liquid swimming pool cover.
Save energy on your swimming pool
To really enjoy your swimming pool, you need something besides a pool cover. Such as circulation, heating, lighting, etc. But all those devices consume energy and of course we want to do something about that!
1. Variable circulation pump
A standard circulation pump runs continuously at a fixed speed. This costs as much energy every year as 7 refrigerators together! Nowadays there are pumps with variable settings. These pumps only run when necessary and at a speed that is needed at that moment. The setting required is often only 20-30% of the full power setting. The variable or energy-efficient pumps are more expensive to purchase, but you will earn back the purchase value within a few years.

2. Heat pump
Heating with a full inverter heat pump, there is no more efficient way to heat. Exactly the same applies to heat pumps as to circulation pumps. They do not always have to run at full power. These heat pumps can automatically adjust the power according to the circumstances.

3. LED lamps
Replacing your 300W swimming pool lamps with LED lamps will have less impact than a swimming pool and/or heat pump, but every little bit helps to save energy.

4. Solar panels
You can also consider installing solar panels that generate energy to heat the pool and run the pump(s). This not only allows you to save energy, but also use sustainable energy sources.

5. Maintenance
Provide regular maintenance of the pool equipment and the pool itself. This ensures that the devices continue to work efficiently and the pool uses less energy.
By combining these tips you can save a lot on energy and costs. It is not only good for your wallet, but also for the environment!
