Preparing Your Outdoor Pool for Winter

Are the wonderful summer days over and autumn is just around the corner? Then it's time to prepare your outdoor pool for the winter! Here are the steps to prevent frost damage and quickly use your pool again in the spring:

Step 1: Ensure the correct water balance

Before you cover your (saltwater) swimming pool for winter, you must ensure that the swimming water receives the correct treatment. Start by thoroughly cleaning the bottom, removing leaves and twigs with a pool vacuum cleaner and cleaning the waterline and liner. Use a pool tester to maintain the water balance. This is crucial to quickly enjoy a clean and clear swimming pool in the spring.

Step 2: Lower the water level to below the built-in parts

Protect the built-in parts of your swimming pool against frost damage by lowering the water level below the upper injectors and skimmers. This prevents cracks and leaks during severe frost periods.

Step 3: Prepare the sand filter pump for winter and prepare the technical installation

Just like the built-in parts, the sand filter pump is sensitive to damage due to winter weather, freezing in particular can cause problems. Remove all water from the filter pump and disconnect the technical installation.

Step 4: Blow the pipework dry and seal

After disconnecting all parts, it is time to blow the pipes dry using a compressor. Close the pipes with winter plugs, which you screw directly into the injectors and vacuum cleaner connections.

With these steps you can prepare your swimming pool for winter and prevent possible damage during the cold months. This way you can enjoy your swimming pool again quickly in the spring! With Heatsavr the liquid pool cover, this may be possible sooner than you think!
